iPads are great for sketching and watching shows on a bigger screen than iPod offers. Not only is the bigger screen a perk, but newer iPads come with better performance standards too. However, they aren’t exempt from their fair share of problems. Particularly, the iPad stuck on Apple logo problem.
This isn’t a new iPad problem, and for years we’ve seen many iOS devices get hit with it.
Fortunately, as a result of how common it is, the Apple community has done some digging, and a few general fixes have been found. We’re going to walk you through these fixes as well as a few definite fixes so without further ado, let’s get right into it.
Why is iPad Stuck on Apple Logo?
Unless you have a very old iPad, or you are aware of a hardware issue, there are three reasons for the Apple logo loading screen being stuck.
- An unsuccessful jailbreak could result in a stuck loading screen. This may be a result of faulty firmware or if you wrongly jailbroke the iPad.
- iOS updates are known to have installation problems, and one possibility is a stuck screen.
- Existing iOS files may have corrupted, and thus the iOS isn’t able to load properly.
Regardless of what is causing this problem, one of the fixes that we show you will fix it. Please keep in mind that if the issue is hardware-related, then you must contact an Apple store.
Fix 1. Force Restarting Your iPad
A simple force restart is always worth trying and has proven to be handy for simple iOS-related issues. If you don’t already know how to force restart, follow these steps.
Step #1 – Hold both the “Power/Lock” and “Home” buttons simultaneously.
Step #2 – Your iPad will go black for a moment and when the Apple logo is shown, release the buttons.
Step #3 – After a few moments your iPad should load up normally.
Don’t worry if this doesn’t work for you; there are other solutions that you can try.
Fix 2. Restoring Your iPad with iTunes
If the problem is firmware related, then there’s a good chance that restoring will fix your iPad stuck on Apple logo problem.
Step #1 – Open iTunes on your computer and connect your iPad via USB cable.
Step #2 – Hold both the “Home” and “Lock” buttons down until the iPad’s screen goes black.
Step #3 – When the screen goes black, let go of the lock button but continue holding the home button.
Step #4 – Release the home button when you see the connect to iTunes display.
Step #5 – On iTunes, you’ll be given a choice to “Restore” or “Update”. Try the update option first but if it doesn’t work, click “Restore” and choose a recent backup to have restored.
Unfortunately, this will overwrite the data that is currently on your iPad. Of course, if there isn’t any data worth saving, then this is completely fine.
Fix 3. Remotely Erasing the iPad
For those who don’t care about the data on their iPad, you can remotely erase it. This is actually a very simple process and to fix iPad stuck on Apple logo, no interaction with the iPad is needed.
Step #1 – Go to the iCloud website and sign into the iCloud account that is linked to your iPad.
Step #2 – Once you’ve signed in, click “Find My iPad” and choose your iPad from the device list.
Step #3 – Click the “Erase iPad” feature, and shortly after, your iPad will be completely wiped.
Again, this completely wipes your iPad’s data. With this in mind, if you have work files stored on it or any personal data, try another fix instead.
